After Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan, it was time for me to visit the beautiful beaches of Ngapali, a sea side village south west of Bagan.
There are two ways to reach Ngapali from Bagan: Either by bus, which is a long trip, or by airplane to Thandwe, which is just 7 kilometers away from Ngapali. I chose the second way and travelled with Mann Yadanarpon Airlines, which was an okay airline company.
For my stay I had made a booking at AZ Family Resort, which is a sea side resort. My room was just 30 meters away from the beach! It was a great accommodation, in the best part of Ngapali beach.
The first day I rent an e-bike to explore Ngapali.I had heard about the famous fisherman village of Ngapali, so I decided to my first stop there.
It’s an amazing place to observe local fishermen, while they dry their fish in the sun, on a huge area right next to the beach.
After the fishermen’s village I went to visit the beautiful Mermaid of Ngapali, a beautiful statue carved on a rock in the sea.
My third stop was at the local market of Thandwe a beautiful market full of colours.
A great choice for shopping!
After that, I decided to spend the rest of the day laying on the beautiful beach at the resort where I was staying.
For the second day, I had booked a full-day boat tour with Mr Naing Htoo. This gave me the chance to explore the Pearl island, paradise beach, and do some snorkeling to observe the underwater world of Ngapali!
A beautiful tropical beach with crystal clear waters! I had a great lunch there: fresh grilled fish and shrimps.
A beautiful island, less than a mile from Ngapali beaches.
Where to eat in Ngapali:
At the Golden Sea Restaurant, for good, fresh fish.
At the Sun Set Ma Cho Win Hlaing Bar Seafood Restaurant, for seafood by the sea.
And lastly, at Jone’s Pizza, if you feel like having something other than sea food.
