Yangon is the capital of Myanmar (Burma) and is in fact one of the most beautiful ones in Asia. It’s a clean city without too much traffic and pollution.
I arrived early in the morning with Air Asia (not a bad airline) from Kathmandu. I had booked accommodation for three nights at Sky hotel 88st, which is in the city centre, good value for money and very decent.
Things to do in Yangon:
Visit the Sule pagoda, which is a 2.600 year-old Temple
Visit the Maha Bandula park. A nice park to relax and observe the locals.
Visit the Shwendagon pagoda. This is a must see Temple, if you are in Yangon.
Go to the Kandawgyi lake, to see the famous Karaweik palace.
Visit the Utopia tower, which is a nice view point to see Yangon from the 5th floor.
Go to the Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple. The biggest reclining Buddha of Myanmar.
Go see Inya lake. Perfect place for a walk and to see the sunset.
Where to eat in Yangon:
At the Royal Jasmine Authentic Thai Cuisine.
At Nourish Cafe
And finally at Gekko co. Ltd
